Geo Takach is an environmental communication scholar whose work spans books, articles, documentary films, radio and theatre scripts, and more than 75 scholarly and public presentations. His publications include Scripting the Environment and Tar Wars, alongside creative works that use humour, storytelling, and media to depolarize conversations around ecological responsibility and resource extraction. His current research blends environmental communication with arts-based and Indigenist approaches, culminating in a forthcoming book and documentary film.
A faculty member in the School of Communication and Culture and instructor in the School of Environment and Sustainability, Geo brings extensive professional experience as a communicator, writer, filmmaker, and speaker. He has developed and taught courses across communication theory, screenwriting, speechwriting, documentary filmmaking, sustainability communication, and communication in Indigenous contexts. His work has been profiled nationally, and he chaired the 2019 Conference on Communication and the Environment
