Co-Creating with Nature: A Transformative Leadership Learning Framework

Description: Nature is more than a place. Nature can become a relational partner in learning. As a leadership educator, Bishop has the privilege of working with leaders who are committed to developing their character and capabilities to make positive change in the world. She takes leaders into nature to support transformative learning. Nature invites affective, embodied, and relational experiences that can disrupt habitual ways of thinking, feeling and doing resulting in perspective transformation through dialogue and action.  This session offers an experience-informed, theory-integrated perspective on how leaders can co-create transformative learning experiences with nature. A Transformative Leadership Learning Framework is proposed. The framework draws upon transformative learning theory, ecological perspectives, dialogic processes, and leadership development to explore how encounters with nature can support shifts in identity, worldview, and leadership.
