Lisa Caton is the Manager of Community Learning Partnerships at Royal Roads University. An interactive workshop for changemakers seeking to influence public policy and drive lasting systems change. Drawing on real-world examples of successful and hard-won policy and regulatory reforms in areas such as predatory lending, local investing, education savings, workforce development, poverty reduction, and financial empowerment, participants will explore how meaningful change happens in practice. Participants will deepen their understanding of the public policy process, build practical skills for advancing equitable outcomes, and gain hands-on tools for planning, evaluating, and sustaining policy change initiatives. The workshop highlights collaborative approaches that bring together community organizations, government staff, elected officials, business leaders, and people with lived experience of living on low income. The session also provides opportunities to connect with a community of changemakers committed to creative, collaborative action and to building a more equitable future.
